One version -play it pretty straight Second version- own interpretation and have fun with it. Script/ lines below..... We open on our storyteller in a chair, on a hill of beans. Above him is the lock-up “Dare Brain Fail Tales”. STORYTELLER: This is the Brain Fail Tale of Summer the Ummer. Who with every thought she’d think, would come an ‘umm’ sort of thing. Her brain wasn’t humming. She was the umm-adeus Mozart of umm-ing Umms to the tune of Mozart. Umm, umm, umm, umm, umm, umm, umm, ummm... He turns the page, and we think he’s about to say another ‘umm’ but sees the Dare in the book. He picks it up and has a drink. Then this coffee hit, hit the mark. Now her brain hums in B sharp. When your tale’s lost the plot, a Dare fix’ll fix it. SUPER: WHEN YOUR TALE’S LOST THE PLOT. A DARE FIX’LL FIX IT.

Roles

Hero 100%

Type:
Hero 100%
Gender:
Male
Description:
(30 to 45) We need an actor with an innate sense of humour and comic timing but not slap stick. Ideally with previous comedic work to reference. Their style should be sharp and somewhat sophisticated, but definitely not too posh. We’re after someone on the surface might seem like the everyday guy but he’s got a bit of hero’s edge about him, or charm within his character. Images for illustrative purposes only. Voiced with a resonant tone and touch of cheekiness. We need to be absorbed by every word. The storyteller has put a spell on us, and we MUST hear the story all the way to the end. There are multiple scripts with some tricky wording such as: alterations, rhymes and sing-song parts. The performer must be nimble with words and have the ability to memorise. It will be important to deliver nuance and flare without overplaying it. We’re looking for confident without being smirky or quirky. Overall, the character has the kind of charm and whit that “jumps off the page”. Or rather transcend the screen! We need someone with magic in their eyes and a wow their vibe.
