MALE MOTEL OWNER/CONCIERGE:
If possible it would be great for you to have someone you can riff off.
Would love to see the following 2 x scenarios. Please do each a few times & play with variety in performance:
1. With faux charm, an insincere smile, a used car salesmen’s blunt and saccharine friendliness.
2. Curt and unwelcoming approach. He is doing you a favour by letting you stay here. Careful with this approach that it is not too overblown. If he’s too insulting and rude, the family would just turn on their heels immediately, it’s more sly and snide.
KELLY - MUM:
If possible it would be great for you to have someone you can riff off.
Kelly needs to be able to convey with subtlety and a bit of nuance, both ends of the emotional spectrum. She keeps it together, just, when confronted with the awkward dilemma that the place she booked for her family holiday looks like it is going to come off the rails. She is polite and it is awkward, so knowing looks and forced smiles can build to her backing away from this scene with her family in tow. As tense and uptight as this scene is, it needs to be counterpointed by the relief and joy at the freedom of the campsite. She’s all relaxed smiles. Maybe one or two little directions to her kids to stop brutalising each other, but she is in her element here.
DAVE - DAD:
You are absolutely gobsmacked at the awfulness of the motel. And then happy as the proverbial pig when you get to the water!

He will be showing the Motel Owner a box and inside the box is a gross collection of all the parasites they've collected from the motel. Once he spots the guests there at check-in, he backs out timidly.
Please enter the scene, show the owner the box, and then notice the guests - back out timidly.
