Self-test instructions for roles: Please see script examples below for each scenario/location. Please keep things natural, playful, and can be a little bit humorous. Part of that humour comes from the fact that the “informers” seem to appear out of nowhere. They just happen to be there, at the very moment the “cynics” are questioning the benefit of clean energy. Please perform lines a few times each, showing variety between takes. 1. QLD Both MAN (REPORTER) and WOMAN (GROUNDSKEEPER) to please perform as per the script. Feel free to ad lib slightly around these lines if you'd like! Standing pitchside at a stadium before a report, whilst fixing his hair, a suited up sports reporter points up to the solar panels on the roof and talks to the cameraman he’s with. REPORTER: Yeah but they seem a bit pointless. Behind him, a groundskeeper riding a vehicle spraying pitch markings appears in shot. She begins talking to our reporter. WOMAN: ‘They’ power around 20% of the stadium, which saves heaps. Those Lower costs means more events, so more tourism in the region. We’re all winners. And renewables will soon employ more than any other energy sector. . Impressed, the reporter holds out the microphone and speaks. WOMAN: Yeah but... we’re not live are we?! They laugh and we zoom out to reveal the full stadium and all of the solar. 2. Man & Woman with Dog & CFA Worker A couple walking their dog stroll past the Yackandandah CFA. Noticing the battery being checked on the wall, one of them speaks. MAN: Yeah but as if that battery makes much difference. As they reach the pub next door they pass a few of CFA workers sitting outside eating lunch. One of the fiery’s speaks, as he does, the couple are initially surprised, but become impressed by what they hear. FIREY: It saves us money. And When the sky’s black and a bushfire’s rushing in ‘that battery’ will help us save lives. It’s not a flash in the pan; nearly 30 percent of Australia’s power is renewable and soon it’ll be 50. The man, impressed with the answer, gives a witty reply. MAN: Yeah but...is it your round? They group chuckle and the couple stroll into the pub. 3. TAS Stretching for a second whilst jogging over a beautiful Dam in Tasmania, two joggers talk. WOMAN: Yeah but it’s not like Dams power much. A dam worker leans her head out of a window in one of the nearby buildings and speaks. WORKER: Try 80% of Tasmania and thousands of jobs across Australia. No sooner has she appeared, she pops back inside and disappears. The joggers look at each other impressed and set off running as we zoom out to show the scale of the dam. 4. SURFERS & FISHERMAN VIC Dad & Fisherman: please do script as per below> Daughter: carrying her surfboard towards the ocean – reacting to the dad and to the fisherman as they speak. Feel free to ad lib dialogue around these lines! A dad and his teenage daughter carry their surfboards down towards the ocean. The dad speaks pointing back to the turbines. DAD: Yeah but, where’s the jobs in those? An old fisherman who is just leaving the beach with his rod, talks as he passes. MAN: 30 new farms opening this year That’s over 13,000 extra Jobs. Enjoy the surf. He walks off, leaving the two surfers impressed.
