Roles

Mason Morgan

Type:
Series Regular
Gender:
Unspecified
Description:
(19 to 26) The Morgan family often joke that Mason fits too perfectly into the mold of ‘Youngest Sibling’. An energetic risk-taker and explorer, Mason lives life in the moment and doesn’t take it too seriously. He’s a larrikin with a self-deprecating wit and brutal comic timing, and the shining light of the household when things get dark. Mason is studying medicine, and whilst he’s clever and committed, knows he’s probably never going to be the medical star his sister Tori is. But that’s okay. He’s still got his dashing, country good looks and shower-singing skills to fall back on. Mason knows how tough life can be: he’s lost both his parents and he’s watched his older siblings suffer many obstacles and challenges as they grew up faster so that he didn’t have to. But that’s just taught him to appreciate how important it is to get the most out of life, and to laugh. To this end, Mason could be everything Evelyn MacGuire needs when she finds her entire life has been turned upside-down. But can Mason save her before she falls into a dark place?

Ryder Jackson

Type:
Series Regular
Gender:
Unspecified
Description:
(17 to 20) Good looking and laid back with a kind heart, Ryder is the kind of kid who sees life as an adventure - the more daring, the better. He loves a challenge - relishing the opportunity to use his highly creative mind. Although he doesn't go looking for trouble deliberately, it somehow always seems to find him. But his cheeky charm and silver tongue usually get him off the hook - or at least, manage to land him a softer punishment than he usually deserves... Ryder is the son of Quinn Jackson (Danielle Spencer - circa 1995), which makes him the grandson of Summer Bay's patriarch, Alf Stewart. Not that Alf had any idea that Ryder even existed. In fact, Ryder's arrival completely blindsides his grandfather. Ryder further fails to ingratiate himself, when it's discovered that he's the mystery misfit who's been vandalising the Surf Club, breaking into its Kiosk and terrorising the Caravan Park. Alf's first instinct is to send Ryder packing, back to his mother, or better still, the boot camp for wayward kids he ran away from. But Roo, Alf's daughter and Ryder's aunt, convinces Alf to give Ryder a chance. Ryder begins to make his mark in the community, using his mischievous sense of humour to charm his way into people's hearts. However. there is also a not so pleasant side to Ryder, which at times, can be aggressive. Taking Ryder under her wing, Roo begins to suspect that there's more to Ryder's erratic behaviour than just being a typical, moody, difficult teenager...

Ziggy Nova

Type:
Series Regular
Gender:
Unspecified
Description:
(17 to 20) If ever the term ‘wild child’ applied to anyone, it’s Ziggy Nova. Feisty and passionate, with a wit as dry as a camel’s tongue, eldest daughter Ziggy has always felt like the odd one out. Even though deep down she loves her family – and is especially close to her dad – something has never felt quite right, and as a result she’s driven to rebel and act-out. At school, Ziggy was always the kid on detention. And every report card inevitably ended with “Ziggy is an intelligent student who would do well if she would only apply herself.” Eventually, after months of battling with her mother and her teachers, Ziggy dropped out of high school when she was seventeen and has struggled to find a career path since. It’s not that she hasn’t tried. But somehow, having fun always gets in the way – that and a string of deadbeat boyfriends who either encourage her or follow her into minor altercations with the law. Although her mother would never admit it, Ziggy senses she’s a disappointment to Maggie. And no matter how hard Ziggy tries, part of her can’t help being envious of her little sister’s extraordinary ability to sail through school with top marks and little stress. It’s not that she hates Coco, in fact it’s the opposite. She admires her and is hugely proud of Coco, and if anyone says a bad word against her, she decks them. But she also knows deep down, she can never be like her little sister. So when Ziggy’s parents announce they’re moving to Summer Bay, her first thought is, who cares? She’ll stay in the city, it’ll be a lot less stress not having the family around. However, all that changes when she meets Brody Morgan and eventually starts work at the Morgan family garage. And yet despite her newfound direction, her disconnection from her family will only continue to grow until the shocking truth about her parentage finally emerges...
