Kura Forrester (Ngāti Porou) is an actor, writer and comedian from Wellington, New Zealand. She stars in Three series DOUBLE PARKED as 'Lily', now in its second season, and feature film WORKMATES, set for release in 2024.
Kura studied acting both at Unitec in Auckland and the prestigious École Philippe Gaulier in Paris. Her credits include a slew of iconic comedy films such as THE BREAKER UPPERERS, BABY DONE and WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS, as well as television series' GOLDEN BOY, CREAMERIE II and three seasons of EDUCATORS. You'll find her writing credits in DOUBLE PARKED and EDUCATORS too.
Kura also regularly makes appearances as herself, on shows such as TASKMASTER, GUY MONTGOMERY'S SPELLING BEE and her own stand-up comedy. In 2023 Kura performed her second solo show for the International Comedy Festival, HERE IF YOU NEED, after winning the esteemed Billy T Award for her debut show KURA SHOULDA WOULDA in 2019.
Kura is well-known to local audiences with her multi-year core cast role of ‘Desdemona Schmidt’ on New Zealand’s longest-running hospital soap, SHORTLAND STREET. When she is not acting or being hilarious, Kura is spending time with her very cute puppy, Tui.
