Notes

Sandy is an award winning Actor and Writer from the Dunghutti, Gumbaynggirr and Bundjalung clans/nations of NSW. Graduating from the Queensland University of Technology in Theatre Studies (BA Hons., First class), Sandy has trained internationally at the Atlantic Acting School in NYC and The Groundlings Improv School in Los Angeles. Sandy has performed with Australia's leading theatre companies including Sydney Theatre Co, Melbourne Theatre Co, Malthouse Theatre and worked in Film and TV including a supporting role in US blockbuster, "Killer Elite" with Robert De Niro. For her contribution to Indigenous storytelling, Sandy was nominated for "Artist of the Year" at the prestigious Indigenous Deadly Awards. Sandy has also trained as television producer under the leadership of Fiona Eagger from Every Cloud Productions, a highly successful Independent, Australian Production Company. In 2018, as part of the Deadly Fringe Program, Sandy wrote and performed her original, critically acclaimed one woman show "Matriarch" at the Melbourne Fringe Festival, winning both the SA and NSW Tour Ready Awards. It was also nominated for Best Writing and won the Best Actor in Independent Theatre at the 2019 Green Room Awards. Sandy is the Founder and Director of Jinda Productions, an Indigenous production company that aims to tell stories from a female Indigenous perspective. As a Gumbaynggirr custodian and native title holder, Sandy was raised on her traditional homelands, speaking her language and has always been connected to her culture. Sandy draws on her expertise as a cultural educator to implement First Nation representation and authenticity in film, television and theatre. As an emerging screenwriter, Sandy has written the Indigenous storyline for two Independent Australian Feature Films “The Aussie” and “Giselle” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *2019 Winner for Best Actor in Independent Theatre, Green Room Awards. *2019 Nominated for Best Writing in Independent Theatre, Green Room Awards. *2018 Winner of the SA and NSW Tour Ready Awards at Melbourne Fringe Festival. *2018 First Indigenous Australian actor awarded a diversity scholarship at The Groundlings Improv School, Los Angeles. *2012 Deadly Award Nominee for 'Artist of the Year', Sydney Opera House *2012 'Outstanding Indigenous Artist' Award at the Melbourne Fringe Festival
