Rob Gibson is an Auckland-based actor of Iban (Malaysian), Chinese, and Scottish descent. He brings a powerful screen presence and dynamic physicality to drama, action, and commercial work. A qualified physiotherapist and elite classic-physique bodybuilder, he combines disciplined physicality with authentic, grounded performance. Recent screen credits include the lead role of Duke Lim in Happiness is the Path (dir. Chye-Ling Huang), Kevin Ingram in Shortland Street, Action Driver in Netflix’s Cowboy Bebop, and RDA SecOps in Avatar: The Way of Water, with early appearances on Mercy Peak and Being Eve. On stage, he played Wittkun in Auckland Theatre Company’s sell-out season of Basmati Bitch. Rob has trained with Miranda Harcourt, Greg Apps, Michael Saccente (Meisner Technique), multiple Studio 111 screen intensives, and currently trains with acting veteran Joel Tobeck. He is experienced in stunt and combat skills, having trained at the NZ Stunt School (High Falls, Fight for Camera) and the NZ Stage & Screen Combat School (Sword). Rob began his martial arts journey in karate and now trains in boxing. He also has experience with firearms, giving him a versatile skill set for action roles. Off set, he began his career as a DJ/MC, studied and worked in radio (drive-time co-host), and remains passionate about broadcasting, screen acting, and guitar. Professional background note: Rob is also a Senior Physiotherapist (NZRP), which informs his movement, conditioning, and set safety awareness.
