Rarmian Newton portrays Maashous Evers in the new NBC drama RISE. He was born in Melbourne, Australia and is a graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School. As a young actor Rarmian captivated on the stage performing as the young Peter Allen opposite Hugh Jackman in the 2006 national tour of THE BOY FROM OZ. The following year Rarmian was cast as 1 of 4 Lead Billy's in the national Australian tour of BILLY ELLIOT THE MUSCIAL brought to life by the Tony Award-winning creative team; director Stephen Daldry, choreographer Peter Darling and writer Lee Hall. The young actor’s portrayal of Billy was awarded Best Male Actor at the 2008 Helpmann Award’s; the premier accolade for Music Theatre in Australia as well as the Sydney Theatre Critics Award for Best Lead Male Actor and Best Production at the esteemed Green Room Awards. He went on to star as Tumblebrutus in the Really Useful Group’s production of CATS and was selected via a worldwide search as the Lead Hiccup in DreamWorks production HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON ARENA SPECTACULAR which toured Australia & the US. At home on the screen Rarmian is known for his recurring role of Michael Slade on the acclaimed Australian teen drama DANCE ACADEMY and as the musician young Gary Beers in Shine Australia’s television special NEVER TEAR US APART: THE UNTOLD STORY OF INXS. Recently Rarmian was introduced to US television audiences on the American Broadcasting Corporation suspense drama THE FAMILY opposite Joan Allen, Alison Pill, Liam James and Zach Gilford for Executive Producer Jenna Bans (Scandal, Grey's Anatomy). He has outstanding physical skills including professional dance, singing, acrobatics and parkour. Rarmian currently divides his time between New York and Los Angeles.
