Maxine Ellah is an Australian–British actor of Nigerian and French descent based in Naarm/Melbourne. Her practice spans screen, stage, and voice across television, film, and theatre. She works in English and French, with strong facility in Australian and General American accents.
Her recent television credits include The Role of a Lifetime (ABC, 2025), directed by Hayden Guppy, and Erotic Stories (SBS, 2024), directed by Leticia Cáceres. She has appeared in numerous short films, with her most recent work including a lead performance in the independent short film Molars, premiering in 2026. In 2025, she was also selected to contribute as a development facilitator and teaching artist to Antipodes Winter Lab and the VCA Undergraduate Actor–Director Intensive.
With over ten years of dedicated acting experience, Maxine has undertaken extensive professional training in acting, voice, and movement. Her training includes ongoing study at Brave Studios since 2019, where she has completed multiple courses and masterclasses, as well as the 10-Week Essential Acting Program at Howard Fine Acting Studio and participation in LA-based coach Lisa Robertson’s global scene study program. Her specialised training includes American, British, and Australian dialects with Anna McCrossin-Owen, Shakespeare in Performance with Sally McLean, Fitzmaurice Voice Technique training, and ongoing Alexander Technique study since 2023. Most recently, in December 2025, she was selected to participate in the Howard Fine Masterclass for the second consecutive year.
Maxine’s practice is character-driven, with a focus on psychological specificity and transformation across both classical and contemporary texts. She is particularly interested in portraying complex characters shaped by layered identities and lived experience. Outside of work, she spends time off-grid reading plays, swimming in rivers, and watching films.
