Monica Kumar is an actor and writer. Most recently appearing as a series regular for the ABC / BBC drama, Wakefield. Directed by Jocylen Moorehouse and Kim Mordaunt.
She is the co-creator of the ABC iView series Carpark Clubbing.
Winner of The Digital First Initiative by Create NSW. Winner of Best Writing, and Nominated for Best Actor at Stareable Festival in New York City. Nominated for Best Australian Comedy at Melbourne Web Festival. And, Winner of Best Ensemble Cast at Die Seriale Festival.
She performed in Belvoir St Theatre’s Counting and Cracking.
Winner of Best Main-stage Production, at the 2019 Sydney Theatre Awards. And Winner of 2019 Helpmann Awards, including Best Play and Best New Australian Work.
Her other credits include: Don’t Forget to Go Home directed by Sundance Ignite finalist, Victoria Thompson. Nina, directed by Poora Raj, and Discovery Channel’s drama series, Deadly Women. Flight Paths, directed by Anthea Williams. Intersection, directed by Katrina Douglas, and Gravity Guts, directed by Erica Lovell. Nominated three times at the 2019 Sydney Fringe Awards. Including Best in Theatre.
Monica, also has experience in radio and voice-over. Lending her voice for production companies, AHM, Uncanny Valley and the radio station, 2BS Gold.
