Born and raised in Wollongong, Matthew (he/they) swapped the world of elite sports for the pursuit of a career in musical theatre.
Moving to Melbourne, Matthew was a part of the final VCA foundation Musical Theatre course and graduated from Andrew Hallsworth's Musical Theatre course at PSA - where he performed in their production of 'Guys & Dolls’ as the role of Sky Masterson.
In 2024, Matthew made their mainstage theatre debut in ‘Carousel: A Concert’ (Enda Markey Presents) and stole the hearts of the nation while competing on The Voice Australia (Channel 7).
Other credits include Young Grinpayne/Grinpayne Cover in ‘The Grinning Man’ (Salty Theatre/Vass Productions), Matterson in ‘The Hello Girls’ (Heartstrings Theatre/Hayes), Tom Watson in 'Parade' (Soundworks), Alan in 'I Can Jump Puddles' (Antipodes), Emmet in Wise Guys (Henry Jaksetic) and they also performed the National Anthem at the Pararoos vs Ecuador Game (Channel 10).
Matthew is a strong advocate for disability being represented in the arts, themselves having Cerebral Palsy. Outside of performing, they have travelled the world with the Australian Paralympic Soccer Team, 'The Pararoos' and featured in their self-titled documentary as well as taking part in fundraising events and campaigns for the team and the broader disabled community.
Matthew hopes to be able to use their platform to assist in ushering in a safer and more inclusive industry for disabled performers for generations to come.
Matthew is proudly represented by Random Management.
