Kayla is a Sydney based singer and actor with Lebanese-Australian roots and the strong belief that every good life decision starts with a slightly questionable YouTube rabbit hole.
At 13, she found a blurry bootleg of Heathers (definitely not age-appropriate) and was instantly hooked - a theatre kid from that moment on. From there, she went through high school playing roles that were also not quite age-appropriate, including Catherine in Pippin and Dot in Sunday in the Park with George.
After graduating high school, Kayla trained at NIDA, where she performed in Nine at the Parade Theatre, directed by Dean Drieberg (resident director of Hamilton Australia), and in the 2025 Musical Theatre Showcase directed by Darren Yap (resident director of Hadestown Australia) and Brittanie Shipway (director of Once On This Island at Hayes Theatre Co).
Kayla believes theatre is built on trust between a cast, and that this connection is what makes storytelling feel alive on stage. She hopes that one day, some fuzzy video of her performing will be uploaded to YouTube and inspire another generation of storytellers, just as that fateful Heathers bootleg did for her all those years ago.
