Joel Drabble is an accomplished young actor based in the Gold Coast of Australia. In recent years, Joel has begun taking on a number of leading roles. In the independent feature, Chasing Lemons, and its sequel, Love and Lemon Trees, by Cannes Indie Award-Winning Director, Savanna Crasto, he plays the caring and goofy outcast, Monroe. In the soon to be released short film, Goodbye Spy, he takes on the romantic lead, Roger, a spy who is spending the night with his one true love before setting out on a dangerous mission. And most recently, Granite Highway, where he dives into the darker character of Sam, a man seeking refuge in a motel trying to escape the consequences of his actions.
Joel has trained extensively alongside several notable coaches, including Emmy nominated Casting Director, Tom McSweeney, Screen Acting Coach, Phil Holder, American Dialect Coach, Gabrielle Rogers and Voice Coach, Dianne Eden. Since 2019 he has been training with internationally acclaimed Dialogue Coach, Kristina Sexton on his on-screen acting technique and works alongside her as a trusted teaching assistant. To further his on set and behind the scenes knowledge, Joel also holds his Diploma in Screen and Media.
Joel’s acting career really began to take off after his cinematic debut as the Townsends’ Radio Man in the AACTA Award-winning feature film, Danger Close: Battle of Long Tan. Since then, he has appeared in numerous productions including, Flesh & Ivory, Co-Stars, and Friends in the Field which won the award for Best Film at the OSC Film Festival in 2021. Joel has also had the pleasure of playing some smaller speaking roles in big name productions such as Baz Luhrmann’s film, Elvis and AMC+ series, Nautilus. Joel’s charisma, charm and warmth allow him to play anything from the soulful heartthrob to mysterious outcasts with a troubled past.
