Angus Benfield was born in Sydney, Australia and started working in the film and television industry when he was 14. Landing his big break straight out of acting school as lead Lex in Dean Murphy's cult classic feature film Lex and Rory, he then went on to act in Australian TV series E-Street as Cody Ryder alongside The Mentalist's Simon Baker.
Angus married in 1999 and moved to New Zealand to star as Officer Tom in the New Zealand TV series Kaitangata Twitch.
In 2005 Angus won the Best Actor award at the 48 Hour Film Festival and went on to star as lead Jack in the 2006 New Zealand indie feature film Wait Up Harriet, and as lead Pastor Luke in the 2010 feature film The Holy Roller.
Angus moved to LA with his family in 2017 to star as lovable motivational speaker Fatty Melvin alongside The Walton's Judy Norton in the feature film Motorvation, for which he won Best Actor at the Canadian Cinematography Awards and the New York Cinematography Awards in 2020, and at the Eastern Europe International Movie Awards in 2021. Motorvation is due to be released theatrically throughout the US in 2021.
In 2019 Angus starred as the illegal casino owner Willy 'Superfat' Hollingsworth on CBS's NCIS-LA alongside LL Cool J and Chris O’Donnell and played real-life lawyer Paul Hoffman in the feature film A Fire Within.
Angus recently starred as lead Jonathan Stone alongside Hollywood icon Eric Roberts in the feature film Heaven, which was released throughout the US in October 2020, in 2021 he also starred as lead character Ed in short film Invisible and lead Pete in short film Future in Question.
Most recently, Angus co-starred as Steve Lagos in the latest upcoming Shonda Rhimes series for Netflix, Inventing Anna.
Angus is an incredibly versatile actor who brings depth, dramatic poise, and a rare genius for comedic acting to his roles. Along with starring in numerous TV commercials in the U.S.A, Australia, and New Zealand, including one with award winning actress Cate Blanchett and working on Jimmy Kimmel as the Plumber in their cold opening skit. Angus also enjoys a successful career of screenwriting, producing and directing.
