Tim is a passionate and versatile character actor who has been performing professionally since childhood. He was captivated with the magic of theatre from an early age, and quickly gained an appreciation for the collaborative nature of the art form. He has trained with NIDA, Beverley Hills Playhouse, Aleksi Vellis, Greg Apps, and Sarah Giles, among many others. While he has received praise for his ability to bring depths of humanity and nuance to dramatic roles, comedy is his first love; he was once told by a director that he has “a sense of comic timing that cannot be taught”. He is equally comfortable playing a spoilt English aristocrat, or a brash American movie producer; a flamboyant Austrian fashion designer, or a Welsh village simpleton. Tim prides himself on his ear for accents, and is particularly adept at the various accents of the UK and Ireland (as well as American and European accents). A stalwart of independent theatre, Tim is also a three-time recipient of the Victorian Drama League Award for Best Lead Actor. He has consistently received positive reviews for his stage performances - here are some choice quotes: Much Ado About Nothing "With the easy charisma of someone like Rodger Corser or perhaps a slightly older Hemsworth brother, Constantine exudes both power and affability." - Theatre People Moonlite “Constantine carries off the charismatic Captain Moonlite with a forceful panache” – Squirrel Comedy “Constantine is the man for the part, his cackling laugh and booming voice fitting the Australian outlaw stereotype we expect, while also making the role his own.” – Theatre Press "acted with brilliance by tall, dark, heavy-bearded Tim Constantine, who channels an elemental focus which his namesake surely possessed” – The Plus Ones Betrayal “Tim Constantine as the deceptive Jerry is exceptional, capturing the charm and truthfulness of the character. – Theatre Press “Constantine expertly purveyed considerable charm and a kind of innocence that made him blind to his own arrogance and insensitivity.” – TheatreCraft It’s A Wonderful Life – A Radio Play “… versatility was the word to describe the performances of Tim Constantine… every one with a different mode of speech and often colourful American mannerisms.” – TheatreCraft “Constantine played the compere, Freddy Filmore plus many other roles. Tim gave a wonderful and skilled performance with amazing voice changes for the various roles he portrayed.” – PK Theatre Regression “Constantine exhibits an underplayed naturalism that provides a fine contrast to his outbreaks of anger.” – Stage Whispers "Tim Constantine gives an excellent performance as the older Will. He brings a level of maturity and reflection to his character that endears him to the audience." - Theatre People The Pavilion “Constantine as Peter is so thoroughly consistent both in character and performance. His evolution of understanding the repercussions of his actions culminates in the most beautiful moment in Act 2” – Broadway World The Temperamentals “Tim Constantine’s Rudi is a joy to watch.” The Theatre Nerd “Perhaps only Rudi… is completely sympathetic, due largely to Tim Constantine’s standout performance in the role.” – Weekend Notes “Tim Constantine in particular, who plays Austrian fashion icon Rudi Gernreich, engages charisma, shame, passion and hurt with an understated three-dimensional beauty that allures audience members during his journey.” Theatre Press “Constantine is almost chameleon-like in his ability to disguise himself in whatever character he is asked to play… Here he is utterly charming… It is a beautifully judged performance.” – 3mFm One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest “Constantine gave an excellent performance. He portrayed the brash, optimistic gambler to perfection. Body language was great, diction was excellent, and his interpretation of this character was well illustrated. Congratulations Tim on a wonderful performance.” – TheatreCraft
