Raised in Western Sydney, Sarah-Maree Gattellari was born one of eight children to an Italian father and Uruguayan mother. Sarah showed any interest in performing from a very young age and honed a suite of skills throughout her formative years, attending dance classes from the age of 3, training in musical theatre and studying art. During high school, she began to develop her creative voice through her writing and painting skills, completing two Major Works in Visual Arts, and English Extension II in the form of short story titled ‘The Wilted.’ The story, inspired by her mum, highlighted that the natural state of motherhood is unselfishness and explored the identity of women through a dual narrative of a mother-daughter relationship.
Sarah graduated from Ettingshausens with her CERTIFICATE IV IN DANCE as a scholarship student and Triple Threat Award Recipient in 2015, discovering a passion for acting. With a newfound sense of creative confidence, she enrolled in classes for the next few years training under the guidance of Pip Edwards, Ben Matthews, Maha Wilson and Serhat Caradee. In 2021, Sarah was cast in NBC Universal & Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s television series YOUNG ROCK as Miss Elizabeth, a Kentucky born wrestling manager. Filmed in Queensland, the show was directed by Nahnatchka Khan, Jeffrey Walker, and Cherie Nowlan.
In 2023, she was accepted into PYT ENSEMBLE a local theatre group, where she nurtured her artistic focus in acting & writing. Through this, she was afforded the opportunity to join PYT COMPANY co-write and perform as Natalia in TUAN'S PARTY, a new Australian play inspired by David Williamson’s Don’s Party. Within the same year, Sarah’s deep love for performing extended into the musical theatre world and she was accepted as a Musical Theatre Scholarship Recipient and Vocal Captain for RISE, a program which places mental health & mindset at the forefront for young performers. She is currently an Ambassador for the program.
Looking ahead, Sarah is continuing to develop her artistic skills, and hopes to one day grace Australia’s biggest theatres in a leading musical theatre role. Sarah is also passionate about expanding the representation of Latin-Australians in mainstream media.
