Marie-Eve Cigna graduated from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in 2024. Growing up, she trained and competed as a gymnast, figure skater and finally as an elite swimmer, for which she made the Junior National Open Water Canadian team at age 15. She has experience with stage and screen, and is an intelligent storyteller who knows how to combine her skills as an actor, writer and director to best serve the work.
French-Canadian with Italian heritage, her expressive features and big brown eyes really are the window to her soul - a young Anne Hathaway or Winona Ryder. She is a captivating mix of sweetness and compassion that gets the audience rooting for her from the first glance, but she is not afraid to tackle sensitive subject matters and to dive right in the emotional work. With years of experience as an elite athlete, Marie-Eve can also bring fierceness to the screen, still with her unique underlying touch of vulnerability.
She is the tenacious, driven and strong-willed champion with the heart of gold. She is the quiet intern who ends up making the big shot lawyer win the case with her passion and brilliant thinking, and the delightful girl next door you can’t help falling in love with but who hides deep insecurities.
The young victim who keeps on seeking justice no matter on many setbacks she has to push through – such as Marie Adler in Unbelievable (played by Kaitlyn Dever).
The resilient daughter of a politician, scientist or hero of some kind, who is called to save the world following her father’s death - a Lara Croft in Tomb Raider (played by Alicia Vikander)
The school counsellor who loves her students deeply and will fight for them no matter the cost - think Grace in Short Term 12 (played by Brie Larson).
In a period drama, she is the charming French duchess who conceals sharp political knowledge and manipulative ways, or the right hand to the Queen like Harriett the Duchess of Sutherland in the Victoria series (played by Margaret Clunie).
