Professionally trained with experience in theatre and film, Kat has portrayed a large range of characters from Shakespeare and Brecht to contemporary playwrights Anthony Crowley and Chris Woodley.
Kat began her studies as an actor with NIDA Open Courses. This led to her three year degree with the University of Canberra (Bachelor of Acting and Performance) where she studied under directors Lisa O’Neil, Norman Price and Anatoly Frusin as well as vocal coach and NIDA graduate, Rosalind Williams. Since graduating, Kat has participated in workshops with casting director Dave Newman, improvisation classes at Improv Theatre Sydney and a voice acting course at NIDA Open.
After graduating from drama school, Kat was cast in lead roles for both Sharehouse Theatre Company shows for the 2017 season, Macbeth and Motor Mouth & Suck Face: An Apocalyptic Love Story. She wrote and performed in her own show, Turn Me On, and then was lead in two dramatic short films After She’s Gone and Black Sands. As well as numerous Australian roles, Kat’s impressive accent work and flexible style have helped her thrive in recent UK and European roles on stage in Next Lesson and on camera in Finishing Up. She also has musical experience from starring as Yvette in Mother Courage.
Kat has a number of unique interests and skills that she enjoys in her spare time. These include; sword fighting, she has been a Viking reenactor for over 4 years now, trained in sword, spear and axe; knitting and crochet, Kat can make anything from socks to dragons; rollerblading, her “rink name” is Splat Kat from many daring attempts at power slides; and she is an intermediate Swedish speaker with a passion for true crime.
