Born and raised in Melbourne to British/Indian parents, the youngest of her family. Mikayla Maria prides herself on her heritage, hard work, and dedication to her performing arts. She started competitive dancing, musical theatre, and choreography at the age of 10 until she was 20. During that time she did numerous dancing jobs, credits being well known night club performances, local charity events, teaching children from ages 5-16 and competitions, becoming a 4-time National Grand champion and even going to America to compete in the USASF Dance World Championships, coming 4th for Australia.
After taking a short break from dance, she found her passion for screen acting and Musical theatre, attending classes at Acting Performance Studios, and learning under Toby Derrick, Luke James, and Robert Johnson. She has been attending Acting Performance Studios since 2018 and has learned to master on-screen and theatre acting, also being a part of other courses such as screen acting with Rhys Muldoon and being in a dramatic short film through the school called “Shang high”. She admires Tina Fey, Bill Hader, the Wayans family and Robin Williams as her motivation and reasons as to why Acting, Musical Theatre and Comedy appealed to her. She also plays numerous sports, such as netball, hockey and volleyball and takes singing lessons at VOX singing academy.
Mikayla is currently undergoing her Bachelor of Performing Arts at the Australian College of the Arts and where she is mastering her craft as an actor, comedian, writer and director. She has also received her Diploma in Performing Arts through the same institute. Her most recent performance was in the CollArts comedy revue called “The assignment” and Performing Stand-Up Comedy at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Mikayla also does Stand-up comedy at Open Mic nights across Melbourne. Although she will graduate in December 2024 she is currently available for work.
