Notes

Zara Goodman is an English / Papua New Guinean actor, singer-songwriter, writer, and producer based in Brisbane. Zara holds dual UK and Australian citizenship, having been raised in Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands before her family settled in Far North Queensland. Her acting career began with a bit-part in This Little Love of Mine (Jaggi Entertainment) alongside Liam McIntyre and Saskia Hampele. Zara has since appeared in various Australian and international productions, including a bit-part in Kidnapped (Jaggi Entertainment) alongside Todd Lasance and Clair van der Boom; a lead role in Socially Distant (13th Street Films) alongside Darren Gilshenan; and a bit-part in Apples Never Fall (Peacock) alongside Sam Neill and Annette Bening. Zara is set to appear in a lead role on Spines (Gorilla Entertainment) with a lead role, and a supporting role on TikTok comedy series Shin Splints (The General Public Productions), funded by the Screen Queensland Channel Lab: Short Cuts initiative. Zara obtained her Diploma of Creative Arts (Acting) from CQUniversity in 2020 and her Bachelor of Creative Industries (Drama and Performance) from the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in 2022 whilst pursuing roles. She has received training in the Meisner Technique and Screen Acting from The Actors Pulse, Sydney; the Uta Hagen Technique from Peter Rasmussen; and ongoing coaching with Brisbane-based acting coach Gareth Harris. As a singer-songwriter, Zara releases music under artist name Zara the Good, and is currently producing her debut EP with a series of singles leading up to its launch. Zara has a soprano vocal range and received classical voice and piano training throughout school. Her songwriting explores mixed identity, womanhood, existentialism, faith, trauma, healing, young love, and loss. She blends a wide range of genres, including indie/alternative, rock, folk, electronica, and gospel/worship, with her main inspirations being Coldplay, ABBA, Florence + The Machine, Fleetwood Mac, and AURORA. As a creator/writer/producer, Zara believes that storytelling is her “calling.” Like her ancestors before her in Papua New Guinea, who shared their histories through oral traditions, Zara tells meaningful, powerful, and personal stories to achieve transformational change for future generations. She is in the process of setting up her own production company, having already written several projects, including a psychological thriller feature, gothic comedy short film, Gen Z military sitcom, period murder mystery series, and YA fantasy drama series, which she plans to begin producing in 2025. Every bit the multidisciplinary creative, Zara produces acrylic paintings on canvas for sale, creates short films and vlogs, enjoys photography and graphic design, and was trained in dance (ballet, contemporary, jazz) as well as artistic gymnastics.
