Double vaxxed. Pacific Islander PNG Sydney based Mel Ree completed the 3-year acting course at WAAPA where she was awarded the prestigious award for classical text playing Othello’s Emilia. She continues her training in Sydney at The Actor’s Hub, Sydney Actor’s Collective and is currently on a scholarship at Sydney Improv Theatre. Some of Mel’s theatre credits include ‘Mary Warren’ from the Crucible, ‘Lady Macbeth’ from Macbeth, ‘Ruthie Caid’ in Clinchfield, ‘Sandra Sprague’ from The Boys, ‘Leona and Vaine’ in Vernon God Little and ‘Snug’ in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Mel is also passionate about dance and writing, she is a member of SOCA’s Free it up dance crew and runs her own monthly performance art event at the Giant Dwarf Theatre and the Red Rattler Theatre. Mel has featured in self-written shows in The Melbourne Fringe Festival, Sydney Fringe Festival and Bondi Feast Festival. She will be performing in another self-devised piece at PACT with acclaimed theatre collective Black Birds in July 2021.
