Notes

Nehir is a Turkish actor and writer haling from Sydney’s sunny eastern suburbs. Being raised between Istanbul and Sydney, she had a childhood coloured with exuberant performances. These ranged from a show at the Opera House to countless attempts of writing/directing and starring in her own home videos all the while bossing her father and sister around. Nehir completed her diploma in acting at the Academy of Film Theatre and Television, where she played Anna in Leo Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina. Since graduation she’s studied closely exceptional teachers such as Kevin Jackson, Joel Jackson, Adam Dunn, Aaron Glenane and Michaeley Gibson. Nehir finds herself drawn to passionate, fiery characters who wear their emotions on their sleeves. She played the tantalising Natasha in the award winning feature film Cuckoo’s Den, which premiered at the Ritz Cinema this past April. She’s also appeared in multiple independent films including Shush (David Lawrance), The Choice To Love (SBS) and Euphoric Paradise (Vanderbyl Productions). This January, she performed in a critically acclaimed production of Richard Foreman’s Sophia=Wisdom at the New Theatre. The production which was described as “Part dada, part slapstick comedy” divided audiences for its blatant disregard of theatrical convention. Sydney Arts Guide described the show as “Pioneering experimental theatre displaying remarkable skill. The show deserves a good audience and is worthy of attention. Its [also] a lot of fun” “The cast thrive on Kennedy’s radical direction. They are meticulous and have rigid precision” Stage Whispers. She recently performed at the Old Fitz’s production of Green Scenes which was very positively received.
Outside of her passion for acting, Nehir is a Journalist and views her crowning achievement in having been able to interview Edwina McCann, Editor-in-Chief of VOGUE Australia in an article investigating the impact of the counterfeit luxury goods industry. Her other noteworthy interviews feature talent such as Television Host Osher Gunsberg and Musicians Ruel, Budjerah and Tina Arena. Nehir has several projects in development for 2025, including a highly anticipated feature film.
