Denise Chan is an actor, writer, producer and director of Chinese descent based in Sydney, Australia known for her comedic sensibility (described as an ‘Asian Tina Fey’ by Scott Sedita) and intense vulnerability in drama. Denise played opposite Bren Foster (A Taste for Blood, Last King of the Cross, The Last Ship) in his directorial debut action thriller ‘Life After Fighting’ which was released in 2024 and is now available on Netflix. She also played opposite Rudi Dharmalingam (Wakefield, The Lazarus Project) in ‘Playing Gracie Darling’ (Paramount+). Upcoming releases include ’Relentless’ opposite Bren Foster, Amanda Righetti (Scarpetta, The Mentalist) and Matt Passmore (Frayed, Jigsaw) and short films ‘Thin White Material’ and ‘Ugly Baby’. In theatre, Denise played Teresa in ‘Torch The Place’ by Benjamin Law with Queensland Theatre Company in 2026 for a sold-out season that was well-reviewed. Denise has worked across commercial campaigns in leading and featured roles, various short films with performances nominated across film festivals, music videos, independent theatre and notably as Michelle Yeoh’s stand-in/picture double on ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’. As a writer, her work has been selected for independent theatre showcases including ‘Serpent Secrets’ by Slanted Theatre in partnership with NTofP and also KXT on Broadway’s ‘Storytellers Festival 2025 - Part 2’.
