Denise Chan is an actor and writer of Chinese descent based in Sydney, Australia known for her comedic sensibility (described as an ‘Asian Tina Fey’ by Scott Sedita) and intense vulnerability in drama. Denise played opposite Bren Foster (A Taste for Blood, Last King of the Cross, The Last Ship) in his directorial debut action thriller ‘Life After Fighting’ which was released in 2024. Her 2025/2026 releases include: ‘Playing Gracie Darling’ opposite Rudi Dharmalingam (Wakefield, The Lazarus Project) and short films ‘Joe Blow Says Hello’ opposite Jack Dutson (The Office Australia) and ‘Ugly Baby’, a project she wrote and will co-direct as well as star. Denise has worked across commercial campaigns in leading and featured roles, various short films with performances nominated across film festivals, music videos, independent theatre and notably as Michelle Yeoh’s stand-in/picture double on ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’. As a writer, her work has been selected for independent theatre showcases including ‘Serpent Secrets’ by Slanted Theatre in partnership with NTofP and will be included in KXT on Broadway’s ‘Storytellers Festival 2025 - Part 2’.
