Notes

Koraly Dimitriadis is a widely published and acclaimed poet, writer, actor and performer. She is the author of the controversial Love and F**k Poems which is a bestseller for poetry in Australia with rights sold into Europe for English and Greek translation. Koraly has been mentored by award-winning novelist Christos Tsiolkas (The Slap) for many years. She is regular opinion writer and has contributed to Daily Life, Rendezview, News.com.au, Ten Daily, SBS, The Age, SMH, ABC, Junkee.com, The Saturday Paper, The Washington Post and The Independent (UK). Her articles are discussed in the media, including Channel 10’s Studio 10. Koraly is a trailblazing performance poet having performed nationally and internationally at theatres and festivals. In 2013 she produced, co-directed and acted in a collection of short films of her poetry called The Good Greek Girl Film Project, which were funded by Australia Council and screened on Channel 31 as well as various festivals including Palace Cinemas for The Greek Film Festival. In 2017 one of these films, Best Friend, was shortlisted for the Australian Online Video Awards. A spin off TV series Good Greek Girl was optioned by Cristina Pozzan (Carla Cametti PD), with script development on the series taking place in 2015 and 2016. This inspired Koraly to produce and act in her first unscripted pilot feature Koraly (a mockumentary): I wonder if they’ll make the TV show in 2016 which was also broadcast on Channel 31. Koraly made her theatre debut in 2016 with her one-woman poetic play Koraly : ‘I say the wrong things all the time’ to rave reviews. Directed by international director Olga Aristodemou and premiering at Melbourne’s La Mama Theatre, Koraly wrote, produced and acted in the play which she plans to tour. Koraly is also a cast member of Outer Urban Projects’ Poetic License which premiered at the Melbourne Writer’s Festival in 2014 and continues to be remounted, with an acclaimed season in 2017 at 45 Downstairs. As part of her theatre debut in 2016 Koraly undertook intense one-on-one acting training with her director Olga Aristodemou. Koraly has completed training at The Film Space with director Aleksi Vellis and at TAFTA with Peter Andrikidis. Koraly has a diploma in professional writing and editing from RMIT. She was also a radio presenter for community radio for a number of years. Koraly has literary projects in development, one of which she was awarded a Wheeler Centre Hot Desk Fellowship in 2017. She is represented by Golvan Arts for literature and theatre and Profile Creative for screenwriting and acting. “She is merciless…astounding…powerful acting…a play of pure emotion and passion.” – Stage Whispers “One of the brightest stars in the new poetry scene…” – Junkee.com “An emotional self-examination with a hand-mirror.”– AU Review “Wow. Dimitriadis pulls no punches here. This is armed-missile poetry. You won’t read anything like this in The Monthly.” – Kate Holden, bestselling author, In My Skin “A voice that demands to be heard.” – Overland Literary Journal “Ms Dimitriadis is the voice of an angry Australia. Her anger is for the disaffected, the voiceless and the invisible.” – Paul Capsis, award-winning performer www.koralydimitriadis.com Twitter @koralyd facebook.com/koralydimitriadis youtube.com/user/koralyd
