Screen and stage actor with long professional experience, working since the age of 16 and beginning in voice-over before moving across theatre, television, film, opera and live performance. I bring strong grounded authority on camera and am credible across intellectual, professional and working-class roles. I am especially suited to characters with intelligence, pressure, moral complexity, dry humour, emotional restraint or lived-in practical competence. I am a highly capable improviser with training in Laban/Malmgren movement psychology and Dr Robert Marchand’s Character-Based Improvisation, and I bring a mature understanding of text, character, rhythm, subtext and screen behaviour. My recent performance CV is selective rather than dormant. Over the past several years I have been completing a PhD and MPhil, teaching in higher education, and developing practice-led research in performance, actor training, ethnodrama, digital theatre and audience relationship. That academic and applied work has deepened, rather than replaced, my acting practice.
