Nikayla is a Filipino, Papua New Guinean, El Salvadoran actor, writer, and filmmaker. Originally from Cairns, Queensland, and based in Sydney, Nikayla has always had a passion for the arts. She began acting from a young age performing in after school shows, pantomimes, musicals, and children’s theatre performances. In 2022, she co-wrote, co-directed, and performed in ‘Heathers the Tragedy’ as part of The Young Company’s Annual Fringe Festival, and performed in and produced ‘After Once Upon A Time’ (dir. Michael Elliot). After moving to Sydney, she has gained more film and theatre experience at Sydney Actors School, most notably in ‘The 39 Steps’ (dir. Claudia Barrie) and ‘Separate Tables’ (dir. Shane Anthony and Janine Watson). During her training at SAS, she further developed her acting and filmmaking skills, and especially found a love for cinematography. Nikayla is a passionate artist and is excited to use her skills to create more stories for everyone to enjoy.
