Margot is an actor, improvisor, director, devisor, certified intimacy director and acting teacher, originally from Gadigal country (Sydney) and now resident in Naarm (Melbourne). Trained as an actor at the VCA (University of Melbourne), over the past seven years she’s extended her skills through Michael Chekhov Technique training in the USA and Europe. As an actor she’s worked with Melbourne Theatre Company, State Theatre Company of South Australia, Arts Centre Melbourne, Windmill, La Mama, Darlinghurst Theatre, Hothouse, and fortyfive downstairs, amongst others, and has appeared in guest roles on many Australia tv series over her thirty year career. Margot is one of a small number of Australian certified intimacy professionals, having been awarded one of eight MEAA-Equity Foundation scholarships to train with IDC, USA. She's also a director, with a particular passion for new works - or for reframing old ones with the context of contemporary culture. She loves working with emerging artists, whether actors or creatives, which is borne of her long teaching career, including as Head of the Music Theatre department at the VCA (2009-2018), followed by further four years there as a an acting teacher. After a year working at the University of Michigan as an acting teacher and intimacy director, Margot chose to make a joyful return to freelance life; working as an actor, as a director, an intimacy director, a freelance teacher and coach - or any combination of the above. Margot is currently working with Antipodes Theatre as a director of Orlando, written and composed by Willow Sizer, Rachel Lewindon and the cast, currently in development and slated for performance at fortyfive downstairs in November 2023. She is represented by Ian White Management, and have been a proud member of Actor’s Equity since 1991.
