Born and raised in Kenya before moving to Australia at age 10, Yaya made her acting debut in US Feature Film Gods Of Egypt, starring opposite Gerard Butler, Geoffrey Rush, Brenton Thwaites and Emma Booth. Anticipated for a 2016 release, Gods of Egypt is a fantasy action-adventure Directed by Alex Proyas. Yaya plays the role of Astarte – a hard-core Warrior Goddess. Yaya launched onto the screen as a contestant on The Face, Australia. A competition created and hosted by Supermodel, Naomi Campbell. As a runner up on the first series, Yaya caught the eyes of casting directors both locally and internationally due to her down to earth personality, stunning presence on screen and interesting choices throughout the 12 ep series. As a model Yaya is in high demand. She featured in Vogue Australia’s ‘Ones to Watch’ Story, fronted Peter Alexanders AW14 Campaign & was the face of Le Specs Sunglasses. Yaya signed to leading agency FORD models in NYC in September 2014.
