Mina Asfour (He/Him) is an award-winning filmmaker and actor based in Western Sydney. Passionate about storytelling, he works both in front of and behind the camera, bringing diverse and compelling stories to life. Mina is currently developing his feature film, Love Off A Knife, a story about a “self-destructive romantic.” After a successful pitch at the Inner West Film Festival, Craig Boreham (Lonesome, Teenage Kicks) is attached to direct. Mina was also selected for Yungstr, a six-month program focused on satirical storytelling, led by award-winning playwright Lachlan Philpott and sponsored by ATYP. Additionally, he is the new artist-in-residence at Bankstown Arts Centre, where he will focus on developing new work. Beyond filmmaking, Mina is also a songwriter, writing and recording music (Baritone C2 - E4) with local independent producers. At the heart of his work is a commitment to representation. He strives to create more opportunities for diverse voices in the Australian film industry and contribute to breaking barriers for the LGBTQIA+ community and people of color.
