Deirdre Khoo (she/her) is a versatile multilingual actor who was born and raised in Singapore. She graduated from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts’ (WAAPA) Bachelor of Music Theatre, having trained in music theatre, film & television.
Deirdre is building an impressive portfolio following her graduation, with her most notable credits being Anne Boleyn in SIX the Musical Australia and Janet Weiss in the 50th Anniversary Tour of Rocky Horror Show Australia.
Deirdre’s stage versatility is evident in the range of productions she was in, the most recent being the Sydney premiere of Bright Star as Lucy Grant and was also the lead accordionist on the show. Going back further, she was in the Old Vic’s Production of A Christmas Carol as Jess (and u/s Belle & Little Fan) in 2023. Prior to that, she played Ex-Girlfriend, Swing and Dance Captain in Darlinghurst Theatre Company's production of ONCE, in which she performed the lead role of 'Girl' on several occasions to great acclaim.
She is also extremely excited by new works in Australia, and previously recorded an audio-experience album for RUTH: The Musical by Isaac Shatford as Darla Ren, under the direction of Hayden Tee.
Deirdre's performing credits start from when she originated the role of Julia O'Brien in a new Australian musical, 2084, that premiered in Western Australia. Some other notable credits include Allison Vernon-Williams in Cry-Baby (dir. Chris Parker), Maggie Winslow/Vocal Captain in A Chorus Line (dir. Crispin Taylor), Rosie in Mamma Mia! (dir. Shaun Rennie), Pepper in Maki Morita's Trash Pop Butterflies, Dance Dance Paradise (dir. Amelia Burke), Flute in A Midsummer Night's Dream (dir. Nicola Bowman) and Scotty in Merrily We Roll Along (dir. Brent Hill).
Outside of performance, Deirdre co-founded a not-for-profit arts organisation, Future Oz Inc., that aims to works towards a greater inclusivity & diversity in the industry, while connecting music theatre students all across Australia. She is a skilled, diverse artist with training and lots of passion in theatre, film and television.
Deirdre would like to pay respects to the Traditional Owners of the lands on which she lives and performs on, to which sovereignty never ceded.
