Mia Morrissey started acting at sixteen, starring in Venice Film festival favourite Bat Eyes, The first ATYP Voices Project: Out Of Place and Seven Network’s teen musical comedy series In Your Dreams, which shot in Australia and Germany for two seasons (for which she also wrote original songs with costar Bardiya McKinnon).
Deciding then to pursue training, she studied at the Atlantic Acting School in New York in 2015 and graduated from WAAPA’s full time acting course in 2018.
Some of her notable theatre, film and television credits include Jade Lennox on Home and Away, Mimi Marquez in RENT at the Sydney Opera House, Gabby/Bobbi in the Hayes Theatre Company’s acclaimed production of City of Angels, Margaret May in Alice In Slasherland, Laura Cunningham in Stan series Totally Completely Fine, Nadiyah Zammit on hit Amazon Original series Deadloch, Cath in Sundance Film Festival favourite Together (recently acquired by Neon) and Australian feature film Sweet Milk Lake (set for a 2025 release).
Mia also wrote, composed and starred in, In Loving Memory, a musical about grief; produced, funded and programmed by The Hayes Theatre.
Outside of performing and writing, Mia is an active spokesperson for body positivity and body neutrality. She started successful instagram campaign, The Gained Project during covid lockdown and has worked with The Butterfly Foundation to help bring awareness to the dangers of Eating Disorders.
She is also passionate about eradicating the societal shame around menstruation, endometriosis and other reproductive conditions and is an ambassador for Endometriosis Australia.
