Notes

Robyn Malcolm is one of New Zealand’s most celebrated actresses. After graduating from Toi Whakaari: New Zealand Drama School in 1987, she honed her craft in theatre before landing her breakout role as Nurse Ellen Crozier on Shortland Street (1994 - 1999). However, it was playing matriarch Cheryl West of Outrageous Fortune (2005 - 2010) that cemented her as an icon in the hearts of New Zealanders. Since then, Robyn has become known for complex characters portrayed with unflinching honesty: from Emmy-nominated Top of the Lake, to Apple TV's critically acclaimed miniseries Black Bird; Netflix's The Survivors and the recent Pike River film, where she portrayed the real-life Sonya Rockhouse alongside Melanie Lynskey. Her momentum has never slowed: in 2024, Robyn was the co-creator, executive producer and lead actress for BAFTA-nominated After the Party. In "a bravura performance from the very beginning", critical acclaim swept in from NZ, Australia and the UK, and Robyn won 'Best Actress' at Series Mania Festival in France. In her trademark style of authenticity, empathy and down-to-earth humour, Robyn is an outspoken advocate for women, the environment, and is an ambassador for Greenpeace.
