Notes

Emma Beech : Actor + Theatre Artist: My debut theatre work was a show in my mums bedroom. Emma graduated from Flinders Drama Centre in 2000, then worked in theatre and screen as well as developing an arts practice of making theatre shows from intimate conversations with other humans, from strangers to her dad, drawing from documentary practices to create her own docu-theatre style. The best moments of these conversations she collects together to make theatre shows, which exalt the un-exalted in our daily lives, and hone in on our life-changing stories. Her work is often direct address, and montages monologue storytelling, gestures and physical narratives that are collected from interviews, conversations, confessions and observations. She works with collaborators that include installation-theatre companies in Denmark and Singapore, and various companies and festivals locally including The Rabble, Arts House, Aphids, OSCA, STC SA, Brink Productions and Vitalstatistix. Her one-woman show commissioned for the Adelaide Festival, The Photo Box, premiered in 2022, and her new live art, improvised show, HERE WE ARE had its first of many outings in Fringe 2023 and 25 with The Mill. The Photo Box is set for a tour in 2026, kicking off in Sydney. Earlier this year, Emma shot a web series with Arterial Films, Bloom, set for release in August, 2025. She is the proud mum of 10-year old triplets, which is a show all of its own.
