David Valencia is an Australian stage and screen actor, writer and director. As a graduate of the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), David's screen credits include 'Loving Pablo' alongside Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz; Elijah Wood's production of 'The Boy'; and Season 3 of NETFLIX's 'NARCOS'. His collaborations as an actor have screened at multiple film festivals including the Venice, Toronto, San Sebastian, Warsaw and Bogotá International Film Festival. His stage credits include the Belvoir St Theatre / Playwriting Australia co-commission and morality play, 'Mortido'; Malthouse Theatre's 'Blood Wedding'; and Queensland Theatre's production of 'Bernhardt / Hamlet'. His Black List-trending feature screenplay 'HERE, NOW' was a Sundance Institute Development Track Finalist and is currently in development. Also in development is his pilot script 'BENEDICTUS'. Developed at Pedro Almodovar's EL DESEO, it tells the story of two Catholic priests who hire their own assassination after one of them contracts HIV. A political thriller set in Mexico City about two singular lovers, the events that lead to their fateful demise and the headstrong female prosecutor seeking to expose the case - despite a society that would rather bury the truth with the dead. As an On-Set Art Director, his credits include NETFLIX’s 'Spiderhead', ‘True Spirit’ and ’Boy Swallows Universe’; Lionsgate’s ‘Daybreakers’; NBC Universal’s ‘Young Rock’; Tim Minchin’s ‘Upright’ for FOXTEL; Walden Media's 'Nim's Island'; and Universal's upcoming limited series, 'Apples Never Fall.' David has been selected to engage in master classes with two-time Academy Award winner, Kevin Spacey; Triple Crown winner and Co-President of The Actors Studio, Ellen Burstyn; and American acting coaches Elizabeth Kemp, Larry Moss and Ivana Chubbuck. He has dual Australian-Colombian citizenship; has his American Green Card in place; and is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
